Background and Experience
Buffy’s work as a substance abuse counselor in a community mental health setting has prepared her to work with a variety of individuals with unique experiences. She has worked with individuals with substance abuse issues, depression, anxiety, anger management, and boundary issues. Buffy also has experience working with children and families as a court advocate in abuse cases.
Personal Statement
I am passionate about my career as a social worker and enjoy helping people navigate difficult life experiences. I provide a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling. I work to empower each clients to use their strengths to overcome various struggles in life. I strive to develop a trusting and caring environment so that each client feels safe and respected. We will work together to develop goals that focus on your strengths and empower you to make changes.
Education and Training
Buffy earned a Bachelor of Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. In 2014, she received an Alcohol and Drug Abuse certification from Grayson College in Denison, Texas. In 2018, she earned her Master of Social Work at the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas. Buffy gained her clinical experience working in an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility, and in the mental health department at a community health center. She also has experience as an intern at the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center.
