Background and Experience
Claire works with children and adolescents ages 11+ as well as adults. She has experience working in a psychiatric hospital that treated eating disorders as well as for a substance abuse clinic and private practice all here in the DFW area. She also has experience helping adolescents and young adults transition to college and adjust to new experiences that she gained while completing her studies in New Jersey. While working with these populations, Claire has gained experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, anger management, body image issues, OCD, ADHD, grief and survivors of abuse including sexual, physical and narcissistic abuse. She has a particular passion for helping people through transition periods through solution-focused therapy by focusing on strengths and positive coping skills that empower clients by helping them recognize what can be done rather than what cannot. Claire recognizes that each individual is unique, however, and creates treatment plans to reflect what a client needs to help them live optimally.
I first knew I wanted to be a counselor during internships I had while completing my Master’s in Education. I was privileged to be able to guide high school and college students through personal as well as academic struggles. I found working with young adults to be very rewarding as they entered exciting new chapters of their lives, and I had a hand in helping them progress developmentally. I also had a long term counselor myself, as I struggled with grief and trying to find my own path, who helped me a great deal. Because of this experience, I like to form therapeutic alliances with my clients so that we can work together successfully. Since I am a Certified Yoga Instructor, I treat clients from a holistic approach that includes incorporating mindfulness into sessions, which clients can use in their everyday lives. I am an LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC ally who strives to always put the client’s well-being first through patience, empathy, humor and grace.
