Background and Experience
Jennifer “Jenny” Seng works with adults, young adults, adolescents, and families. She has worked in residential treatment centers in Tennessee where she focused on providing crisis interventions to troubled youth, addiction outpatient treatment in Mississippi, and most recently in an outpatient setting where she focused on individuals within the legal system providing substance abuse and mental health treatment. Most of her experience was in Dallas in the areas of substance abuse, abuse and trauma, forensic/legal issues, Veteran issues, and mental health disorders. Jenny also enjoys working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, mood and behavioral disorders, and personality disorders, as well as any individual who wants to focus on personal growth. When it comes to therapy services, Jenny’s main focus is to create a safe and supportive environment in order to create an individualized treatment approach that focuses on meeting personal goals and the needs of the client.
Personal Statement
Coming from a family of individuals in the medical field, and being around others who suffered from addiction, it was a no-brainer that I wanted to be involved in a helping profession that focused on the whole picture not just specific needs. Studying psychology, pre-professionalism, kinesiology, and health sciences, provided me with insight into where my life path should go and ultimately lead me to discover the beautiful world of counseling. I believe in focusing on client’s strengths, areas of need, and their life-story to create a safe space to provide therapy and focuses on their individualized treatment goals. I also believe in the value of empowering clients to reach their full potential as they see fit. I have a strong passion for what I do and encourage healing, accountability, and the ability to overcome life's struggles despite hardships that may have impacted one’s life along the way. Being adaptive and supportive throughout the counseling process will be imperative to create a healthy and lasting therapist-client relationship, which is my goal when working with clients. I am passionate about working with adults and young adults as they learn to navigate through life and secure healthy support with others in their family/social network to encourage positive changes in their environments.
