Background and Experience
Kara works with children (3+), adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Through her work at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, Kara gained a passion for working with victims of trauma, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, family conflict, and unhealthy family dynamics. Kara also enjoys helping those struggling with mental health disorders, stressful life events, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, parenting, and negative coping strategies. Kara provides an individualized approach and creates a treatment plan based on the needs of each client. Kara utilizes play therapy for young children and activity-based therapy for older children and adolescents.
Throughout my education I always knew I wanted to help people, and it wasn’t long before I decided the way I would do so is through counseling. I feel blessed to be a part of each and every personal journey and love seeing the growth and strength that is gained. I work with individuals to identify current struggles, explore strengths and solutions, and develop healthy ways of coping and healing. Using a solution-focused, person-centered approach, I will join with you providing encouragement to overcome personal obstacles and the empowerment to face whatever challenges come your way.
