Personal Statement
As a teenager, I went through multiple difficult life events. I knew from a young age I wanted to help someone the way I needed help. My education and training confirmed my love for helping people. One of the best feelings is seeing people heal and overcome things they did not think they could do. I value the connection between the client and counselor in the counseling process. I use an eclectic approach utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy while also using a humanistic, developmental, strength-based framework. For me, all these fancy terms mean understanding where the client is coming from, what is going on in their life, what are some ways to make life more comfortable, and have the client share what they want to get out of counseling. Treatment will be adapted for each specific client as no person shares the same story.
