Background and Experience
Saundra’s training at Texas Woman’s University combined with her experience at the Children’s Advocacy Center has allowed her to gain experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Saundra has experience in treating family and couples conflict, unhealthy family dynamics, unhealthy boundaries, crisis situations, abuse, risk-taking behavior, self-harm and other unhealthy coping skills. Saundra utilizes play therapy, activity therapy, family therapy, sibling therapy, couples counseling, and individual therapy to best serve her clients needs.
Throughout my education I knew that my goal was to be a therapist. In therapy, I utilize Adlerian Individual theory to remove negative self-directed beliefs and behaviors and to replace them with tools that will allow a client to become confident and socially empowered. Growth is achieved by working together to move forward towards mutually agreed upon goals. When working with children and adolescents, I believe that it is important to keep the parents and family involved in the healing process. I became a therapist to help people gain a better awareness of their environment and to help them navigate life and its difficult, confusing, and trying moments.
