Background and Experience
Stephanie has comprehensive experience working with clients of all ages, but has concentrated on working with children, adolescents, and young adults with a history of abuse and neglect. She has also supported families and couples that need assistance with co-parenting, blending families, and other communication or adjustment related issues. Some of the clients Stephanie has worked with have struggled with trauma, PTSD, ADHD, behavioral issues, anxiety, anger, and other relational problems. It is important to Stephanie to provide individual or family mental health resolutions that meet the specific needs of each situation.
Personal Statement
I highly value the belief that each person is created with a unique personality and calling and that no pain is without purpose. It has become one of my goals to help each person I am in contact with discover their individuality and potential while also processing through their trauma. I believe that play is a way for children to communicate and that through directive and non-directive play children can work through many issues that they might be facing. My work with adolescents and adults is Cognitive Behavioral in theory and serves to challenge and correct faulty thought patterns and behaviors that are blocking healing and growth. Professionally, this is achieved by working through strongholds and roadblocks, which present in the form of pain and tragedy, anxiety and depression. Parakletos is the Greek word for advocate and that is what my ambition is to be in my role as a counselor. It is my hope you will find my warm style, humor, and love for others creates an environment of healing and hope.
