Susan Chaffin, M.S., LPC-S

Background and Experience

Susan works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Through her work at the Samaritan Inn, Susan gained experience helping clients with a variety of life issues including: grief and loss, mental health disorders, substance abuse and recovery, relationship and family issues, crisis management, and career challenges. Susan uses an individualized approach to counseling determined by the client's history, presenting issues, and future goals.

Personal Statement

I began my career in Human Resources in the corporate world helping employees overcome workplace issues.  With my transition to the counseling profession, I now enjoy the opportunity to help people in all aspects of their lives in meaningful ways. I work with clients to cope with life's challenges, to heal emotional wounds, and to develop the skills to make the personal changes and choices necessary to achieve their desired goals.  I consider it a privilege to be a part of this journey.

Education and Training

Susan earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and her Masters in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. Susan gained her clinical experience at the Samaritan Inn in McKinney, Texas, where she gained over four years of counseling experience.  Susan is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor.


Susan  is in the office Tuesday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.  


Session fees start at $130 and can be lowered based on a sliding scale. 


Susan accepts Aetna, Baylor Scott & White, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Crime Victim's Compensation.
