Axel Cristales, LPC

Background and Experience

Axel gained the majority of his counseling experience at Hope’s Door New Beginning Center where he counseled survivors of domestic abuse, both children and adults. His work experience as an educator, specifically in low-socioeconomic public schools, has allowed him to connect with individuals dealing with various issues, such depression and anxiety, behavioral concerns, self-esteem issues. His life experiences have instilled in him a passion to help individuals discover how to value their strengths and gain a balanced and healthy perspective. In addition to serving as a therapist at CCNT, Axel currently works as a clinical therapist in the Psych Eating Disorder Unit at Children's  Hospital in Plano. 

Axel is bilingual and can provide counseling services in Spanish. 

Personal Statement

I believe that therapy provides the opportunity for greater self-reflection and a deeper understanding of factors that affect an individual’s mental well being. Through developing a therapeutic alliance, centering on achievable objectives, and instilling hope in clients while demonstrating care and empathy, I seek to create an environment where profound personal transformation can occur. Through this transformation I encourage clients to see that trauma and significant stress need not be the final word, but a source of new meaning occurring in life.  

Education and Training

Axel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from North Texas and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M- Commerce. He then earned a Master’s in Applied Psychology from Texas A&M – Commerce where his training emphasized both psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Axel gained his clinical hours at the Texas A&M – Commerce Counseling and Psychology Clinic and at Hope’s Door New Beginning Center in Plano, TX where he provided therapy to children, teens, and adults.

Schedule

Axel is in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays.  Axel does not offer telehealth sessions at this time.

Session fees start at $225

Axel is in network with Aetna, Baylor Scott & White, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Triwest, and United Healthcare.
