Background and Experience
Sara works with adults, older adults, young adults, families, and children of all ages. Across all age groups, Sara specializes in serving those impacted by traumatic experiences and traumatic victimizations like Domestic Violence, Sex-Trafficking, Traumatic Grief/Loss, and Homicide. Sara is experienced with helping clients manage mood disorders, grief, anxiety, workplace stressors, communication issues, relationship and family dynamics, life transitions, and self-esteem. Through her career, Sara has provided care in various settings including emergency shelters, rape crisis programs, inpatient and outpatient hospitals, intensive care units, and the child welfare and justice systems. Sara’s clinical style is to therapeutically partner with a person to walk alongside them through their healing journey, starting by meeting the person where they feel they are truly at. Her approach is strength-based, with the pace and clinical modality being led by the client’s self-identified needs and preferences.
Personal Statement
Survivor advocacy, family support, and critical resource connection have been my primary focus prior to transitioning into clinical counseling. I have a genuine concern for people, and I am in constant awe of the strength people have to silently carry truly heavy, emotional things, day in and day out. I approach counseling from a holistic, systems view, recognizing the impact that family, health, substance use and recovery can have on a person’s ability to cope at any time in life. A diagnosis, addiction, or traumatic experience does not define a person, but it can impact coping in a way that is difficult to manage. It takes courage to seek counseling and to look closely at difficult things within. I believe in the importance of strengthening coping skills to help manage the symptoms and stressors a person is dealing with at any time in life, whether they feel big or small. I want to help others thrive on their own unique and personal life journey.
