Background and Experience
Jacqueline’s work experience in community mental health agencies, school settings, and non-profit settings has prepared her to work with a variety of individuals with different challenges. For over a decade Jacqueline worked in the school setting as a behavior specialist. There she provided play therapy and filial therapy. She also provided resources to students and their families. A major part in working with children and adolescents is working with their parents/guardians to provide education for them to continue tools used in therapy at home. Jacqueline is excited to work with youth, adolescents, and adults who have emotional and behavioral difficulties, various mental health diagnoses, childhood trauma, cognitive disabilities, and those that struggle with grief, drug abuse, relationships, and depression.
In 2019, Jacqueline earned her 200-hr yoga teacher certification. She continues to study the art of yoga, breathing practices, meditation, and mindfulness. Jacqueline has a unique approach to counseling utilizing various techniques including Mindfulness therapy, Cognitive processing therapy, Play therapy, breathing practices and yoga to help my clients better cope with life’s challenges, build resiliency, and create a positive mindset.
Personal Statement
I grew up a small-town girl with a big desire to bring positive change into the lives of others. I believe connection is why we are all here, and before we can truly connect with others, we must first connect to ourselves. My goal is to provide a safe environment that is devoted to improving the emotional, mental, physical, and educational well-being of individuals and their families. Within this safe space, I hope to empower, educate, and support my clients to find connection through healing. I believe in meeting my clients where they are and approaching therapy from a humanistic and holistic view. Our minds and bodies are designed to heal. It is my goal to prioritize that healing so as a whole we can start tending to our emotions, befriending them, and learning that we can truly overcome any challenge we are faced with.
Education and Training
In 2006, Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Oklahoma State University. After working in the sales industry for a few years, I felt I wasn’t bringing the type of change I wanted to, so I went back to school. In 2011, I received a Master of Education in Counseling through the University of North Texas. During my practicum and internship, I worked with children suffering from abuse and trauma as well as their families. Specialized trainings used to support her clients include 300-HR yoga teacher certification, and trauma-informed yoga.
