Background and Experience
Lois’s experience includes working with older teens and adults. She has worked with clients facing challenges in the areas of general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, addiction issues, including substance abuse and alcohol addiction, family issues, crisis pregnancies, trauma, mental illness and life transitions adjustment. She is also able to provide faith-based counseling if desired by the client.
Personal Statement
I believe that seeking counseling is a sign of strength rather than of weakness. It requires courage and a deep desire for a better quality of life. I have always had a natural empathy for others, and have been told that people feel safe with me. I appreciate the unique qualities that make every person precious and valuable. I find it both extremely rewarding and honoring to be trusted with people’s feelings and struggles and to be able to help make a difference in their lives and help them find emotional healing and tools for navigating a fuller and happier life.
Education and Training
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Business from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I later earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. I completed my Practicum at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas, where I worked with college students of differing ages. I also worked with a Dallas-based mental health provider with a range of client ages. I have some familiarity with sex and love addiction therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I was also raised in a faith-based environment.
