Personal Statement
I've always known that I would work in a career with the goal of helping others. The biggest task was deciding exactly how to do that in a manner that didn't take away a person's autonomy, or power, so that they felt in control of their own path. I found my purpose and my calling when I joined the profession of social work. I utilize modalities that focus on the person as an individual because even within a family system, we recognize you're an individual first. Being a social worker has allowed me to walk through situations with clients while they were at their lowest and be present during times of transformative growth and self-realization. I look forward to my continued work with individuals and families for many years to come.
