Background and Experience
Marissa has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing various challenges. She gained experience in her graduate program working with children and adolescents in school settings and with adults in a hospital setting. Marissa has experience working with a variety of issues such as stressful life events, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and negative coping strategies. She has experience utilizing play therapy techniques with younger children.
Personal Statement
I began my education with a strong passion for helping others and later determined that being a counselor was the path for me. My role as a counselor is to create a safe space as we work together to navigate through challenges. In sessions, my goal as the counselor is to provide authenticity, support, acceptance, and empathy. I utilize solution-focused and person-centered as my therapeutic approach. As a counselor, I believe everyone is capable of being resilient and I will be here to support you through your journey.
Education and Training
Marissa earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oklahoma State University. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling with a specialty in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Christian University. She gained experience through her graduate program working with young children to adults conducting individual and group therapy in school and hospital settings.
Schedule
Marissa is in our Wylie office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Marissa accepts Aetna, Centerstone, ChampVA, and Cigna and can submit claims as an out-of-network provider with United Healthcare
