Background and Experience
Jennifer has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families to identify a personalized approach to each person’s unique experience individually and as a family unit. Her work at Terrell Independent School District and in the orphanage at Arms of Hope helped her find her passion of providing play therapy and filial therapy. She believes in the healing power of genuine, warm, and accepting relationships to form a strong foundation for lasting change and open doors to navigate through life stressors. She provides a safe space for clients to open up, gain insight and learn tools to live a more fulfilling meaningful life. She attends to each client holistically to strengthen the process of therapy. Through her nurturing, insightful, and empathetic approach, she strives to advocate, guide, and add value to the lives of her clients. She believes that when children are encouraged to engage in self-initiated play, they are able to express their feelings, values, and thoughts fully and comfortably. A large part of working with children is working with their parents/guardians by providing feedback and therapy tools to continue at home with the goals of bringing more communication, peace, and cohesiveness within the family. Christian counseling available upon request.
Personal Statement
At a critical time in my family, we were looking for positive and effective counseling. Without insurance our options were limited. It was then that I knew I wanted to be the change I wanted to see in the world. I decided then my goal would to be to provide counseling for those who otherwise would not be able to access counseling due to lack of insurance or finances. I believe that every person is inherently good and can be the person they are proud of, and they are valued just because of who they are. My goal is to provide a space for each person to just be, without judgement to meet goals and create lasting change. I understand that vulnerability is difficult to experience but it is an extraordinarily strong advocate for understanding self and motivation in order to attain lasting change. Facing our struggles can be extremely hard, but you do not have to face them alone. Together we can explore and create new avenues for change.
